IMPACT: Work Fitness Programs

IMPACT provides injured worker rehabilitation with an aggressive approach geared toward expeditious case closure. Goals are based on the worker's job description. Targeted Rehabilitation identifies legitimate impairment, but also screens for the presence of "non-organic signs and symptoms" and "outcome predictors" that may reveal a problem patient. The appropriate clinical pathway may then be designed to facilitate return to work.

Work Conditioning:

  • Treatment sessions are 2 to 3 hours, 3 to 5 days per week
  • Includes endurance exercise, stretching, strengthening, and generic functional activities
  • May act as a precursor to work hardening for the de-conditioned patient
  • May facilitate return to work without need for work hardening with a motivated patient

Work Hardening:

  • Treatment sessions begin on ½ days and progress to full days
  • Includes the above components plus job simulation
  • Utilized for the less motivated or the more involved patient

Why Use IMPACT For Targeted Rehabilitation:

  • Short length of stay; average of 10 to 12 visits
  • Cost containment; program cost averages under $2500
  • Results; 80% to 85% of cases result in full-duty release
  • Concise reports; initial, weekly, and exit evaluation
  • Patient satisfaction
  • Licensed therapists with forensic experience
